Abstract

Community acquired pneumonia (CAP) is a common infectious disease acquired from community and an important cause of death in infectious diseases. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is the most common cause of hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP) , but there are increasing cases of community-acquried pneumonia caused by MRSA which is susceptible to several antibiotics including vancomycin. It is important to differentiate HAP from CAP for more effective treatments to reduce the overuse of antibiotics and the development of vancomycin resistance.
